News Journal Created
for Visually Impaired

A new monthly large-print news journal provides national and international news, feature stories, travel stories, medical information, syndicated columns, book reviews, a crossword puzzle, a comics page, and articles on vision care.

In-Sight, first published in August 2005, uses 16- and 18-point font rather than the standard 10- and 12-point fonts used in regular newspapers. Along with the Reader’s Digest and The New York Times, In-Sight is one of the three national, general-interest news publications available in large print. Each issue consists of 40 pages.

The newspaper is published by Cobro Publishing of Mill Creek, Washington, which also produces sourcing guides for the high tech electronics manufacturing industry. Cobro Publishing was established in 1983 by Marilyn Spellman Cole, who became discouraged by the lack of large print news publications available to her 86-year-old father suffering from age-related macular degeneration and promised him she would create a large print newspaper.

For more information about the newspaper or to subscribe, call 800-755-6111 or visit www.insightlargeprint.com.

Assistance Offered to Disabled Travelers

A toll free hotline is available to consumers who experience disability-related air travel problems. The number may be used to obtain information and assistance and is staffed seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

The service, available since August 2002, provides general information about the rights of air travelers with disabilities and assists them in resolving time-sensitive, disability-related issues that need to be addressed immediately.

“Unfortunately, many members of the public are still not aware of the existence of the hotline and, as a result, the service is not being sufficiently used,” said Samuel Podberesky, Assistant General Counsel for Aviation Enforcement and Proceedings.

The toll free number for the hotline is 800-778-4838.
