Annual Testimony
BVA was scheduled to testify before the House Veterans Affairs Committee on February 15 and before the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee on March 9. The latter event coincides with the BVA midwinter Board meetings. We will have an update on the 2007 VA budget in the next Bulletin. The update will include details on the Independent Budget recommendations from the Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs) and the latest proposals by Congress and the Bush Administration.
Legislative Alerts Via
BVA Email Group
Several BVA members have recently contacted me about requesting email legislative alerts. The major obstacle to effective delivery of the alerts is outdated email addresses. Many addresses have changed since Rebecca Vinduska established and updated the list 3-4 years ago. I would ask that each regional group officer work in conjunction with the BVA National Board of Directors to collect and submit to me information for individuals from each regional group. We will work to re-establish an effective “Legislative Alert BVA Email Group” as soon as possible.
In the meantime, if you were receiving legislative alerts via email previously, please update me with your name, address, phone number, and current email address. In many cases I have received an inordinate number of returned email messages with notice of invalid address as I have attempted to use the old list. If any of you are interested in helping to re-establish the group, please let me know. The task of building a current, large, accurate email address group for any national association is a challenge as members often change their email address more frequently than they would a home phone number or address. |
