Resolutions adopted by the 57th Blinded Veterans Association
National Convention on August 17, 2002 in San Antonio, Texas,
and the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Responses Thereto

RESOLUTION: 32-02

RESOLVED, that the Blinded Veterans Association, in convention assembled in San Antonio, Texas on this 17th day of August 2002, work with the VA to develop minimum training standards and outcome measures for computer access training programs in order to ensure that veterans are receiving adequate training, AND BE IT FURTHER

RESOLVED, that veterans be provided clear understanding during the training process of what they are responsible for when it comes to computer-related issues after returning home and what the VA is responsible for.

VA RESPONSE: Currently, BRS is working with Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service (P&SAS) to develop specifications and clinical practices in the provision of adaptive computers. The BVA has a member of their National Board of Directors participating on the P&SAS Workgroup. In addition, the BRS/BVA Strategic Workgroup will also work together to assist in this effort.
