Resolutions adopted by the 57th Blinded Veterans Association
National Convention on August 17, 2002 in San Antonio, Texas,
and the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Responses Thereto

RESOLUTION: 14-02

RESOLVED, that the Blinded Veterans Association, strongly urge the Veterans Health Administration, and Congress to instruct Blind Rehab Service to establish a national computer help office for veterans that is accessible through use of an 800 number, AND BE IT FURTHER

RESOLVED, BRS establish a continuing education and support network. This could include a periodic newsletter with information and facts related to computer use with adaptive software for sight loss, AND FINALLY BE IT

RESOLVED, the BVA and BRS work jointly to establish a network of low vision computer user groups throughout the country.

VA RESPONSE: VA concurs with this resolution. VA’s Blind Rehabilitation Service (BRS) and the Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) are scheduled to re-activate the BRS/BVA Strategic Workgroup that was established a few years ago to work out issues of this nature. This workgroup can explore the feasibility of establishing a "help office," an education and support system, and work toward establishing a network of specific user groups.
