It’s hard to believe, but the BVA fiscal year is winding down. This means that we are getting closer to the national convention in Buffalo.
It also means that the Auxiliary needs to get busy in preparion for that event, focusing much of our attention on our traditional Silent Auction. So many students have benefited from our efforts in the past that the importance of our mission for the future should be abundantly clear. Make your donations generous and timely so that potential buyers will be enticed by the auction items on display.
The Florida Regional Group Auxiliary is very proud to be able to award two $1,000 scholarships to deserving students this year. The cost of higher education continues to rise, which makes every penny we can raise that much more significant to those who are awarded a scholarship. I do hope that the auction in Buffalo will be the most successful one yet.
It is also time for our members to send in their BVAA dues. National dues are mailed to Geraldine McDonnell while local dues are handled differently within each regional group. We need to keep our national treasury on solid footing. Sometimes it might seem that the work of the Auxiliary is not very important, but our support and assistance to blinded veterans and their families is vital.
Our support and assistance constitute the initial stages of a process that ultimately results in true friendship, which is what BVAA is all about as an organization.
What does it mean to be a true friend? After all, this is our primary objective as BVAA members. The following are a few thoughts on the subject.
I hope to see all of you in Buffalo! |
