With slightly more than two months to go, BVA staff, regional groups, members, and families of blinded veterans are busy preparing to arrive in Reno, Nevada for the BVA 59th National Convention.

Booking a Flight

To provide the lowest possible airfare available to attendees, BVA suggests calling Southwest, American, United, Delta, and Continental Airlines using the corresponding file numbers.

Ground Transportation and Accommodations

The Reno Airport is five minutes from the Reno Hilton Hotel. Shuttle service between the two points is complimentary. The first shuttle of the day leaves at 5:15 a.m. and continues to run every half hour until 11:45 p.m.

The Reno Hilton is northern Nevada’s most complete convention hotel, casino, and resort destination. The property sits at the base of the majestic Sierra Nevada range with Lake Tahoe only 45 minutes away by car. Hotel amenities include, but are not limited to, the following: fully equipped year-round health club and spa; seasonal outdoor heated swimming pool and patio; five indoor and outdoor tennis courts; 50-lane bowling center open 24 hours; the Bunker, an indoor golf simulator with 32 championship courses; two movie theaters offering first-run and fine art films; shopping arcade with 25 specialty stores; and the Fun-Quest Family Fun Center featuring video games and laser tag.

Just off the casino and hotel registration are the following restaurants: The Steak House; Andiamo’s Italian Restaurant; Asiana (Asian favorites served family style); Chevy’s; Grand Canyon Buffet; and the coffee shop, which has become the hotel’s famous meeting place. On the Arcade level is a sub shop, pizza outlet, and a deli-yogurt shop.

The Hilton Theater is a 1,600 seat showroom featuring concerts and stage productions. Also offered on the casino level is the Improv, a comedy club, and the Garage, which features nightly drink specials accompanied by music and dancing.

The Reno Hilton has an abundance of free parking. A dog run has been designated at the south entrance.

Hotel reservations can be mailed to the Reno Hilton using a form included in the pre-registration packet. Convention participants can also call toll free 800-648-5080 or direct 775-789-2129. All reservations must be received at the hotel by July 15 to receive the $85.00 single/double rate. Additional person(s) will be charged $10.00 per day. The occupancy tax is 12 percent, bringing the sin-gle/double room rate total to $95.20.

The Reno Hilton accepts American Express, Diners, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover credit cards. Payment can also be made by personal or cashiers check. When using a credit card, please be advised that the first night's stay with tax is automatically placed on the credit card, even if the reservation is made in advance. Check-in time is 3 p.m. while guests must check out by 11 a.m.
