BVA regional groups should have, by now, elected and instructed
their delegates in preparation for the August Myrtle Beach convention.
If groups have not yet completed this task, they should be on
the verge of doing so in order to meet the deadlines required
by our bylaws. Almost every year there are a few groups that are
not represented, and that is always a bad thing.
The upcoming BVA 58th National Convention is the first east coast
gathering we have had in some time, and I urge all of our members
to consider attending. Myrtle Beach is accessible by air, and
bus transportation is also a possibility. In addition, Myrtle
Beach is probably more centrally located to a large cluster of
our BVA population than any convention since our 50th anniversary
Nations Capital convention in 1995. So, all of you east
coast blinded veterans, attend this convention and participate
in deciding the direction of our association for the upcoming
year.
In late May, I attended the second leadership training conference
of the fiscal year. I will report on the conference, held in Birmingham,
Alabama, in greater detail in my final Presidents
Page in the July-August Bulletin.
These conferences, conducted by Director District 1 General Weeks,
have received many accolades over the years. This last one was
no exception.
Our emphasis this time of year is always spurred by anticipation
of the convention. Once again, please look at your calendars and
consider spending August 26-30 with us. I hope to see you there!
