I think we are now safe to write that the April showers that
brought May flowers to so many of us this year are surely in the
past.
As we now look forward to those crazy, lazy, and hazy days of
summer, we as a BVAA organization should stop to congratulate
all graduates for a job well done. If you recently graduated from
any kind of educational or training endeavor, please do not stop
there. Remember that education is the key that opens many doors
to success. In addition, you are never too old to learn.
Summer can be a most exciting time for those interested in the
issues of both BVA and BVAA. For some 58 years we have been convening
in some lucky city to do our thing, and the lucky city this year
is Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Conventions bring opportunities to obtain new information, reflect
on all that has happened during the past year, walk through hands-on
demonstrations of new technology for the blind and visually impaired,
elect new officers, listen to inspired speeches, meet new people,
see old friends, shop, relax poolside or on the beach, sightsee,
or participate in the entertainment unique to the convention city.
Dont forget the sunscreen this year!
Beautiful items of value are arriving for the conventions
silent auction at a very slow pace. Is your contribution among
them? Please do not be left out of this chance to help us raise
funds for many community and educational needs.
Now, about your Auxiliary dues, please do not wait until the
last minute to send them in to Mary McKenzie. Make her job easier
by not procrastinating this small task. Please use the form provided
in Auxiliarys View in the print version of the Bulletin,
or write to Mary at 1277 John Lunn Road, Lewisburg, TN 37901.
I made a quick trip down to the Florida Regional Group convention
in early May and had a super time. You snowbirds and anyone else
looking for a quick weekend vacation in central Florida should
try it next year. It was indeed worthwhile. So long for now, and
see you soon on the beaches of South Carolina.
