BVA National Conventions

For the past 62 years, the Blinded Veterans Association has held national conventions throughout the United States. The conventions, hosted by the BVA regional group that is geographically closest to the convention city, have a three-fold purpose: 1) to conduct Association business, 2) to educate blinded veterans about the resources available to them, and 3) to provide a means whereby blinded veterans can better strengthen and help one another. The national convention is an important means by which BVA upholds its mission to preserve and strengthen a spirit of fellowship among blinded veterans so that they may give mutual aid and assistance to one another.

All BVA members are eligible to attend the national conventions. Family and friends are invited to attend many of the activities and banquets throughout the convention week. They are encouraged to participate in the BVA Auxiliary meetings, held simultaneously with BVA meetings, and to view an exhibit hall containing the latest technology for the blind and visually impaired.

Save the Dates

The Northern Arizona Regional Group of the Blinded Veterans Association will host the Association's 63rd National Convention in Phoenix, Arizona. The official dates of the gathering are August 12-16, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix, 122 North Second Street, Phoenix, AZ 85004 (Phone: 602-252-1234 or 800-233-1234). The convention's exhibit hall will be open August 11-13. Attendees are encouraged to arrive a day early to get a full sampling of the exhibits.

The room rate at the Hyatt is $94.00 for single/double accommodations and $114.00 for triple/quadruple arrangements. BVA anticipates that the space blocked for BVA will fill up quickly as it did in 2007, when reservations were no longer available three weeks before the reservation deadline (seven weeks before the convention). The room reservation deadline for the 63rd National Convention will be July 8.

Additional information in much greater detail will be provided shortly, both here and in the Winter 2008 BVA Bulletin.
