Holiday Visits Encouraged
The BVA Bulletin has, the past two years, run short accounts
of visits our regional group has made during the holiday season
to several blinded veterans living at the Bedford, Massachusetts,
VA Medical Center nursing home.
We usually take several small but still significant gifts, all
individually wrapped. The gifts last year consisted of a sweatshirt,
socks, a toothbrush, toothpaste, handkerchiefs, shampoo, and a
box of sugar free cookies.
The look of surprise and appreciation on the veterans faces
always make worthwhile the visit and the preparations leading
up to it. Sadly, very often our gifts and visits are the only
ones they receive during the holiday season, making this venture
an even more vitally important one to us.
Instead of reporting our visit in the post-holiday season Bulletin,
we hope that mentioning it before the holidays will motivate other
regional groups and their chapters to do something similar at
their local VAMCs this year.

Just a note to say thanks for your support during the last national
election in South Carolina. As your newly elected national secretary,
I promise to uphold the duties of that office to the best of my
"airborne" abilities. During my campaign, I promised
that if anyone had something in mind and wanted the Board to know
about it, my door would always be open. The ball is now in your
court. My fax number is 770-964-7708 and my email address is chapjones@juno.com
May grace and peace be with you all.
