Position Title: Digital Document Scanning Technician I
Location: Downtown Washington, DC
Openings: 2
Rate: $16 - $18.74 (depending on experience)
Department/Office: Government Services

Purpose of position:

The Document Imaging Technician is responsible for accurately scanning a high volume of pages to convert printed material into digital images. The selected candidate will perform any combination of clerical duties requiring moderate knowledge of systems or procedures. The selected candidate will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Training on digital software and accommodations will be provided.

Responsibilities:
  1. Prep documents: remove physical breaks, staples, clips and bindings
  2. Use the Image Scanner(s) to scan original documents
  3. Check scanning specifications for accuracy and quality requirements
  4. Set scanner parameters as identified for each job to ensure accurate handling per customer specifications
  5. Responsible for daily maintenance, including cleaning, of scanner to ensure image quality. Perform routine maintenance on equipment as required
  6. Responsible for logging document numbers automatically assigned during scanning for future retrieval
  7. Writes, types, or enters information into computer via MS Word, MS Excel or other departmental systems, using keyboard, to prepare documents or reports
  8. Review all output images for proper sizing, resolution and overall quality
  9. Photocopies documents, using photocopier when required
  10. Box records for shipment and lifting up to 35 pounds
  11. Maintain a facility that is organized and meets high quality standards at all times
  12. Assist other team members with document preparation
  13. Follows organization and department procedures to complete tasks in a timely manner
  14. Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience Requirements:
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Minimum of 1 years’ experience in operating high-volume Image/OCR scanners in a production environment or applicable office technologies experience
  3. Experience using screen reading software for visually impaired or blind individuals such as JAWS or NVDA
  4. Microsoft suite/Adobe Acrobat Professional X software proficiency
  5. Must be computer savvy, be teachable, and have the will to advance skill set
  6. Commercial print shop and/or litigation support service bureau experience a plus

  4. Must be able to evaluate documents provided in a variety of formats and determine their category
