All of the following criteria must be met to qualify for NSC Pension benefits:

1. Length of Active Duty Service:

       (a) For service on or before September 7, 1980, the Veteran must have served at least 90 days military service, beginning or ending during wartime (unless separated earlier for a service connected disability) or

       (b) For active duty service beginning after September 7, 1980 generally the Veteran must have served at least 24 months or the full period for which called or ordered to active duty (there are some exceptions) with at least one day during a war time period.

2. Permanently and totally disabled from work by a non-service-connected (NSC) medical condition not caused by willful misconduct or is at least age 65, or a patient in a nursing home receiving skilled nursing care, or receiving Social Security Disability Insurance, or receiving Supplemental Security Income, and

3. Income under set limits and an estate that cannot provide adequate maintenance.
