March-April 2017 BVA Bulletin Table of Contents
A recent BVA sports initiative caught a few eyes in February as veterans and other blind hockey enthusiasts came together in Washington, DC for the organization’s 1st Annual Blind Hockey Weekend. Participants came from various parts of the country to enjoy three days of instruction, camaraderie, and confidence building. Details about the weekend, including its roots in the form of a generous grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs, highlight this issue of The Bulletin.
BVA blind hockey took center stage in early February with the arrival in Arlington, Virginia of participants from throughout the United States. The group participated in a weekend flurry of activities culminating in a championship match that pitted the Washington area team, seen in red uniforms, against a squad of legally blind players, dressed in gold-colored uniforms, from Pittsburgh and vicinity.
