Brits and Americans alike get set for a day of kayaking instruction and enjoyment on Liberty Lake just east of Spokane.

All smiles and working solo, Spokane restaurant owner and caterer Mark Starr (pictured front row, left) provided a pizza lunch “on the house” to the 40 Operation Peer Support participants, family members, Team River Runner volunteers, and BVA staff kayaking on Liberty Lake. He cooked and prepared the piping hot food onsite in ovens housed in a vehicle the size of a fire truck. The group included six veterans from Blind Veterans UK, pictured in front of the truck (ovens). Front row, Anthony Cooper, and back row, left to right: Simon Brown, Mark Threadgold, James Cuthbert, Christopher Nowell, and Colin Williamson. Starr is owner and founder of David’s Pizza, which was named after the subject of Michelangelo’s painting.
